CEA statement on UK Film Council

Following today’s Goverment announcement of plans to abolish the UK Film Council, the CEA has issued the following statement:

"The CEA has enjoyed a productive relationship with the UK Film Council which has benefitted the cinema industry, in particular during the development of the Digital Screen Network and the UK Digital Funding Partnership.

We hope to maintain a positive relationship with Government in order to ensure that the regulatory framework in the UK allows the cinema industry to continue to flourish and entertain the public week in, week out."

The CEA may comment further as details of the abolition become clearer.
