UK cinema audiences will this week see the first of a new series of cinema trailers under the You Make the Movies banner.

The new trailer – based on the movie Jerry Maguire – will hit screens from Friday 5 March and run for the next few weeks. Three more trailers will follow over the course of the year.

The campaign, developed by the Industry Trust for IP Awareness with the support of the CEA, began in 2009. Its core message – that the cinema-going public’s willingness to pay for the big screen experience ensures that the film industry can make more of the movies they love – clearly struck a chord. Independent surveys suggested that audience members not only understood their vital role in supporting the industry but also appreciated the ‘thank you’ to them the campaign represented.

Commenting on the refreshed campaign, CEA Chief Executive Phil Clapp said:

‘The first round of You Make the Movies trailers were clearly a hit with cinema audiences. We hope that this new series will have the same effect, offering a big ‘thank you’ to each and every audience member for their part in supporting the industry and reminding them that the only place to see the movies is where they were made for – the cinema.’
