Cinema-goers across the country will from today again have the opportunity to vote for their favourite films and performances of the last 12 months with the return of the National Movie Awards.

Following the huge success of the Awards in 2008 – attracting TV viewing figures of over 5 million – audiences at every cinema in the UK will again be invited to vote in-cinema or online. The winners will be announced at a star-studded ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday 26 May, broadcast live for the first time on ITV1.

Over the next two weeks, audiences will be asked to pick their favourites from the following categories:

  • Action/Thriller
  • Family
  • Breakthrough Movie
  • Fantasy
  • Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer
  • Performance of the Year Male/Female

The Awards will this year be produced by Indigo Television with the full support of All Industry Marketing, the cross-industry body supported by the CEA and the Film Distributors’ Association with the objective of promoting cinema-going in the UK.
