UK cinemas are adding to the excitement of the upcoming London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, offering audiences across the country coverage of key events and providing additional screenings of top movies for the thousands of people expected to travel to the UK.

Following an agreement with the BBC, several major UK cinema circuits will bring live feeds of key ceremonies and events from London 2012 to their cinemas, offering ‘the best seats in the house’ free to audiences across the country.

Others are adding additional screenings of major films – some subtitled for foreign audiences – or programming special seasons of film, bringing the best content from around the world to the big screen.

Commenting, CEA Chief Executive Phil Clapp said:

“Excitement about the arrival of the Games already seems to be at fever pitch. A number of our largest cinema companies wanted to reflect and be part of that, providing audiences across the UK with the chance to see the best ceremonies and events on the big screen.

Others recognise that London 2012 brings with it the opportunity to provide those visiting the UK for the Games the widest possible range of high quality film entertainment.

All are adding to the unique experience of the Games.”
