It has been announced this evening that Steve Perrin, CEO of the UK Digital Funding Partnership (DFP), has been awarded an MBE in this year’s New Year’s Honours List.
Perrin, who has been recognised for services to the cinema industry, most recently led successful efforts – through the DFP – to enable a wide range of smaller UK operators to convert their cinemas to digital technology. In the end, almost 300 screens across over 100 companies were supported through the Partnership.
This award caps a long and distinguished career, where Steve has worked variously for Warner Bros, the UK Film Council (where he was one of the key architects of the UK Digital Screen Network), and Rentrak Theatrical, where he held the post of Senior Vice President and Head of International.
Welcoming today’s announcement, CEA Chief Executive Phil Clapp said:
‘This Honour represents a richly-deserved recognition of Steve’s contribution to the cinema industry at domestic and international levels. His stewardship of the Digital Funding Partnership in particular allowed him to bring to bear his analytical and management skills in an extraordinary way, achieving a successful outcome unique anywhere amongst developed film territories.
I am sure others across the industry will join me in welcoming today’s announcement and congratulating Steve on this award.’
