UK cinema admissions figures for October 2018 were an incredible 32 per cent up on the same month in the previous year, pushing the sector a full 5 per cent ahead of the same point in 2017.
With titles as varied as A Star is Born, Venom and Johnny English Strikes Again all proving a hit with the UK cinema-going public, the monthly admissions total of 16,047,372 was the highest for that month in six years, further underlining the exceptional performance of the UK sector during uncertain economic times.
With a very strong slate between now and the end of the year – and admissions already extremely strong in November – hopes are high that 2018 will be a further high water mark for the UK industry.
