Latest figures confirm the continuing resurgence in UK cinema-going with admissions for July 2019 over 19 per cent up on the same month last year, and overall numbers for the year now ahead of the same point in a record-breaking 2018.
Driven by a strong slate of titles including The Lion King, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Toy Story 4 and Yesterday, July saw 18,846,247 admissions, well up on the same period in 2018 and a number which – after a slow start to the year – pushed cinema-going ahead of the same point in 2018, a year which saw the highest levels of cinema attendance for 50 years.
As the Summer winds down, there is though no let-up in a release schedule which sees major releases such as IT Chapter 2, Downton Abbey, Frozen 2, Jumanji: The Next Level, Terminator: Dark Fate, Joker, Cats and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker all still to come.
