Global cinema box office exceeded $42 billion for the first time in 2019, latest figures show.

Industry data source Comscore have confirmed that last year saw box office records fall again as global cinema audiences continued to show their love for the big screen experience.

Total global  box office reach $42.5 billion, with the second highest box office ever in North America, and international revenues at $31.1 billion, that number exceeding $30 billion for the first time.

Across the year audiences around the world responded to a range of high profile titles like Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, Frozen 2Spider-Man: Far From Home and Captain Marvel.
