The UK Cinema Association has warmly welcomed today’s announcement by the Scottish Government of over £3.5 million of funding to independent cinemas in Scotland, the overwhelming majority of whom are Association members.
Todays announcement confirms that £3.55 million will be distributed to 27 companies and organisations, helping to ensure that their local communities will be able to continue to enjoy the big screen experience once COVID-19 passes.
Welcoming today’s announcement. UK Cinema Association Chief Executive Phil Clapp said:
‘This is hugely welcome and greatly appreciated news, which I know will come as a relief to all of those now receiving funding to help them overcome what is an incredibly challenging period for all UK cinemas. I am sure all of our members in Scotland will want to join me in thanking the Scottish Government and in particular colleagues at Screen Scotland for administering this whole process so swiftly and efficiently.’
