The UK Cinema Association has today published its 2020 Annual Report, covering the organisation’s activities during a year which presented its members with unprecedented challenges.
The report covers a period during which all UK cinema operators were as a result of COVID-19 required to close – or to operate with significant restrictions on capacity and social contact – for a significant part of the year.
Nevertheless, the over-riding quality shown by Association members, one carried on into 2021, was resilience, borne of a confidence that the sector would recover to previous levels of success.
Commenting on the publication of the report, UK Cinema Association Chief Executive Phil Clapp said:
‘It’s entirely appropriate I think that our 2020 Annual Report is published today, just as many cinemas are looking forward to re-opening following the most recent – and we hope last – COVID-19 lockdown.
While proud of the resilience shown by the sector during the year, everyone is I think to draw a line under 2020 and look forward to what we all hope will be a hugely less challenging and successful 2021.
