The UK Cinema Association has welcomed today’s confirmation by the Northern Ireland Executive that cinemas will be able to re-open again from Monday 24 May.
The decision to confirm that Northern Ireland will move to the next stage of its ‘road-map’ to the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions means that cinemas in all four UK nations will from next week be open once again to welcome back audiences.
Welcoming today’s news, UK Cinema Association Chief Executive Phil Clapp said:
“I know how frustrating it has been for our members in Northern Ireland to see the other three UK nations open up this week, so am delighted that they will be able to re-open sites there from Monday.
The success that those sites able to re-open have seen this week augurs well for a swift recovery across the entire UK, with the strong desire amongst the public to once again embrace the big screen experience bolstered by an exceptionally strong film slate over the coming weeks and months.”
