The UK Cinema Association has published its latest Annual Report, covering the state of the sector and the Association’s activities in 2022, a year of significant recovery for UK cinemas.
In his introduction to the document, Association Chief Executive Phil Clapp notes that:
‘After two tumultuous years, 2022 was undeniably a year of significant further recovery for the UK cinema sector.
While some of the residual impacts of COVID-19 were seen in the sometimes variable film slate, the exceptional audience response during the year to titles such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Minions: The Rise of Gru, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Avatar: the Way of Water and above all the long-awaited Top Gun: Maverick proved beyond any doubt the power of the Big Screen experience to engage and entertain the public.’
