It was with a deep sense of sadness that the Association learnt today of the passing of Roy Gower, a veteran of the UK cinema business.

Over 45 years and more, Roy was a much-admired film booker at a number of UK cinema operators, starting his career at ABC Ciinemas before moving on to Cineworld Cinemas and most recently Everyman, retiring from the business in 2021. Despite the sometimes adversarial nature of his role, Roy was held in hugely high esteem by colleagues across all sides of the industry, as evidence by the many messages of condolence received into the UKCA office today.

Through the cross-industry body Cinema First, the UK Cinema Association was delighted to support the presentation to Roy of a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 Screen Awards,

The Association sends its deepest condolences to Roy’s family and friends.
