It is with great sadness that the Association has recently learnt of the death earlier this year of Samuel (Sam) Lavington, most recently owner and operator of the Capitol, Skelmersdale.

Although a relative newcomer to the Association, Sam had a long history in the business, having acquired his first cinema in Ripley, Derbyshire in 1979, but cinema having been in his blood since his mother took him to work with her at her local theatre  from when he was just 5 years of age.

Sam’s other passion was collecting and restoring original projectors and cameras, his collection including a projector made by film pioneer James Williamson.

Our deepest condolences to Sam’s family and friends.
