Latest research from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing confirms that cultural activity such as cinema-going can have health benefits comparable to frequent physical exercise.
As reported in The Daily Telegraph this week, analysis of data from over 2,000 adults aged 50 or over taking part in the study produced findings which suggest higher levels of cultural engagement are “significantly associated” with lower psychological ageing.
The analysis found that those who took part in outings including cinema-going every few months had a physiological age of 66.9 years, three years lower than those who did so less often.
The full findings were published here in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
