Not least given current pricing pressures, energy efficiency and environmental management remains important commercial, operational and ethical issues for UK cinema operators.
This is an area in which the Association has supported its members for a number of years, looking to help them in both reducing their ‘carbon footprint’ and their utility costs.
In partnership with the consultancy Energise, the Association has worked to benchmark energy use and share good practice amongst members on what they can do further to reduce their outgoings in this area. The results of that project involved site case studies suggest that many cinemas could make significant energy savings with relatively small-scale investments and changes to their working practices.
Recent price increases have given fresh impetus to these area of work, and the Association is now looking to explore other areas where it can provide benefits to the wider membership.
